Bahama Village Music Program

Key West's Bahama Village Music Program is now in its 20th year of bringing free musical education and instruction to community children aged six to sixteen. Bahama Village Music Program's mission is to provide quality music education to children who would otherwise not have access to private music instruction. BVMP is more than just an educational institution. Its program creates a great sense of community spirit and pride, fosters important mentor relationships between local teenage musicians and their students, encourages parent participation, and enhances students' self-esteem. Its target community, Bahama Village, is rich in cultural history and community involvement, inspiring students to become not only better musicians, but also better human beings.

Bahama Village Music Program will award the Richard Crooks and the Nancy Rose Robinson scholarships to two of their teenaged musicians so that they may attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston for an immersive five-week summer program.

Green Parrot

In the 1890's, the location at the corner of Whitehead and Southard streets was Sanchez's Corner, a grocery. At the beginning of World War II, it became The Brown Derby, a bar frequented by sailors from the local Navy base. In the 1970's, the Navy pulled out and the sailors were replaced by hippies, bikers, vagabonds and other free spirits. The bar became The Green Parrot. Jim Bean bought it in 1983, and in 2011, his partner John Vagnoni ended his close and long association with the Beans and teamed up with Philadelphia entrepreneur Pat Croce. All along, The Green Parrot has remained a haven for "the spirit, great music, a place to share a beverage or a thought, a place where anything is possible, anytime. A place where people tell their stories undistracted, stripped of veneer, of pretense and of charade. A place to just be."

Hog's Breath Saloon

The Original Hog’s Breath Saloon was established in Ft. Walton Beach, FL, in 1976 by Jerry Dorminy, a Birmingham, Alabama expatriate. The logo was worked up with a local screen printer and the saying, “Hog’s breath is better than no breath at all” is based on Jerry’s grandmother, who used to say, “Bad breath is better than no breath at all.”

In 1988, Jerry sought another location known for its watersports and fishing. Key West was a natural."The Hog" has become one of the most popular bars on Duval Street.  Three shifts of music each day showcase local talent and nationally touring musicians. No one leaves town without a Hog’s Breath T-shirt.

Bombora Vodka

Bombora Vodka is an Australian brand of vodka. Its name comes from the Aboriginal word for "reef," and surf talk for "massive wave." It is distilled 5 times from grapes harvested in the Barossa Valley and natural spring water collected from the Great Artesian Basin.

CooranBong Vodka

CooranBong Australian Vodka, Aborigine for “water over rocks,” is a Barossa Valley grape vodka, distilled a whopping 10 times and bottled in what looks like a Gewurztraminer bottle. The results are mightily impressive: For fans of “smooth,” bite-free vodkas, CooranBong is killer. That ultra-distillation process clearly has done some magic.
